On February 15, 2013 police raided her home and confiscated 23 medical marijuana plants. Those plants were being cultivated for Ms. Jordan by her husband Robert Jordan.
Just a few days before, legislators introduced the Cathy Jordan Medical Cannabis Act, according to which use of cannabis by people diagnosed with serious debilitating conditions must be physician-supervised.
On April 2, 2013 the Manatee County State Attorney`s office declined prosecution of Jordan`s family. But the Sheriff`s department refused to return the confiscated marijuana. So Cathy and Robert filed a law suit against the Sheriff to prove they have a legal right to grow and possess medical marijuana under Florida law.
