Outdoor Medical Marijuana Cultivation Is Banned In Concord, California

Concord`s residents, who need medical marijuana, soon will have to grow it inside their houses. The Concord City Council has been discussing this topic for about four months and came to the decision that the outdoor medical cannabis cultivation must be prohibited. Even if it is necessary for medical purposes.

Some residents, generally medical marijuana users, voiced their complaints.

City Attorney Mark Coon thinks that a compromise was reached for those people, who do not use marijuana and do not want to smell the strong odor near their property and for those, who need marijuana for medical purposes and still can grow it inside their houses.

Coon took this decision after a Concord`s resident complained about the strong odor of cannabis from the neighbor’s backyard. It was investigated that marijuana was cultivated strictly for medical purposes and owners of the backyard had all necessary documents.

Coon`s ordinance was approved by the Concord Planning Commission.
