Vermont Police against Cannabis Legalization

Vermont Police Association, Vermont Police Chief Association, and Vermont State Sheriffs Association speak out against two bills about marijuana decriminalization.

A civil fine for marijuana possession in amount of up to two ounces will be 100$, according to House Bill 200. Senate Bill 48 is proposing to do the same for up to one ounce of marijuana.

The State`s Attorney General Bill Sorrell supports both of these bills. He also considers Vermonters should have the right to grow “one or two” cannabis plants by themselves not to have deal with marijuana dealers.

But what about Vermonters? 63% of voters supported marijuana decriminalization, according to the survey conducted by Public Policy Polling last February.

Vermont Police still believe it will be “the wrong message to the states youth”.
