Medical insurances won`t cover medical marijuana. Cannabis will be available only on prescription. Actually, medical marijuana became legal on Monday, but because of Easter long weekend a lot of pharmacies were closed.

For the first year Prague is going to import medical cannabis from Israel or the Netherlands. In future, the State Institute for Drug Control is going to start issuing licenses for medical marijuana growing to local farmers. Such licenses will be given for five years maximum. The Institute will also assign areas for medical marijuana cultivation and put out tenders for buying it from local farmers.

Czech Republic is one of the most liberal countries of the European Union concerning soft drugs. People growing up to five plants of cannabis and holding up to 15 grams will face only a small fine.
